Books and Flowers

flowers and books

The grouping of books with flowers is a poetic one — whether it’s a studied composition, an impromptu arrangement, or simply a flower used as a bookmark. Both books and flowers serve as portals to worlds of beauty, meaning, and pleasure. The pairing is made more poignant by the contrast of one being ephemeral, the other ever-lasting.

“With freedom, books, flowers, and the moon, who could not be happy?” – Oscar Wilde

“Here’s to fresh coffee, sunshine, morning walks, blooming flowers, good books and all the other simple but glorious pleasures of life.” – (I’m not sure who said this, but I couldn’t agree more.)

  1. As always, your Blog Posts are enchanting! I wholeheartedly agree about the books and flowers. I use my old books to decorate with throughout the year….tie up the cover with a sheer ribbon bow, tuck in a small real-looking silk flower, or small cluster of berries in the center, and it dresses up the whole room ❤️ It is just simple beauty that makes my heart happy! Thank you for another beautiful blog!

  2. Hello!! This is such a beautiful blog! I found the third picture in the Lope de Vida set, the colorful journals with the purple poppy(?) on top. I found you by doing a reverse image search and your blog popped up. I am thoroughly enchanted by these pictures and was wondering if you put them together or if you just find the images? I take old beaten books and make art with them to give them new life and I’m interested in what they are 🙂 thank you!!

    1. Hi Sarah – I’m so glad you found my blog and that you enjoyed the post on Books and Flowers. For my blogs, most of the images come from Pinterest. I’ve been working on my Pinterest boards for years – most of them are related to my novels (I’m an author). How interesting that you create art out of old books. I scatter beautiful old book throughout my house just because they are so beautiful.
Thank you for your comment! And best of luck with your creations.
